The Book Riot’s Read Hard Challenge is the shortest, but the hardest . It is third year and I’m not sure if I’ll do it next year. I like that it really pushes me out of my comfort zone/preferred genres/authors, but other challenges are stepping up in that regard. They also started charging for Read Harder content and the Goodreads group isn’t very active, which takes some of the fun out of it.
My favorites from the Read Harder Challenge are:
- 12 – read a genre book by a disabled author – The Familiar
- 18 – read a book about drag or queer artistry – The Art of Drag
- 21 – a book that went under the radar in 2023 – Starter Villain
