This is my first year to do the Around the Year Challenge and I really enjoyed it.
I finished this challenge in August! I realized I had books that filled multiple prompts – and could move them around to make room for ones that only fit one. That helped me complete the challenge faster than I expected.
Favorite prompts/books from this challenge:
- 14 – a book with fewer than 5000 ratings on Goodreads – Ordinary Hazards
- 35 – a book related to flora or fauna – Lease on Love
- 44 – a book with gothic elements – Gallant
- 50 – a book involving aging or a character in their golden years – Remarkably Bright Creatures
Favorite prompts that made me pick up books I would not have otherwise:
- 18 – a book by an Asian or Pacific Islander author – Year of the Reaper
- 22 – a book with a Jewish character or author – Dancing at the Pity Party
- 34 – a book with an academic setting or with a teacher that plays an important role – One of Us is Lying
My library helped out tremendously — the offer a subscription service where they pick 3 books for you each month — quite a few of the books that fit prompts came from them.
