This is my second year to do the Around the Year Challenge and I really enjoyed it.
I finished this challenge even earlier this year – completing it toward the end of June. (I finished in August last year). I was a little more focused this year and chose books to fit prompts across all challenges.
Reading slumps are no fun when you are a mood reader — and these challenges help keep me out of them. By offering different genres, topics, lengths, etc – I can almost always find a slump buster.
Favorite prompts/books from this challenge:
- 11 – a book about a person/character with a disability- Fourth Wing
- 41 – a book related to a ghost, spirit, phantom, or specter – Sin & Chocolate
- 52 – a book with an unusual or surprising title – In the Lives of Puppets
Favorite prompts that made me pick up books I would not have otherwise:
- 9 – a book nominated for an award beginning with W – Piranesi
- 26 – a book related to pride – Love After the End
- 39 – a western – Tread of Angels
- 41 – a book from the NPR ‘Books we Love” list – Thistlefoot
They are starting voting on prompts for Around the Year 2024 – can’t wait to get started on that next year!
